The City has been hard at work repairing and expanding the roadways so plan a little extra time if you are driving into town.

The students have left for the summer so traffic around campus shouldn’t be too bad but Columbus is a busy town and The OSU campus always has visitors so keep an extra eye out for pedestrians.

The Union is a big place but there will be plenty of signage and people around to help get you to the right spot. If you get lost just ask.

For those who bring refillable bottles there are refill stations at all the restrooms. If you don’t have a bottle that’s ok, there will be plenty of options as part of the meeting. But if you have a need for a fancy coffee or other beverages there are a few spots in the Union and plenty of places within walking distance. There will be plenty of ways to stay hydrated.

Dress for maximum comfort! The days will be long and there will be a lot of walking so wear comfortable shoes. The rooms may be chilly so bring a cardigan (are we even archivists if we don’t have one?) and dress in layers.

The weather should cooperate with us! The forecast is calling for partly cloud days in the 60s, but it is Ohio so we could experience all four seasons in one day. I’d bring an umbrella or raincoat.

The rooms can get a little noisy so if you are having trouble hearing consider utilizing a captioning tool on your phone or tablet. If you are on an apple device the live caption feature works great. Just go to your settings, navigate to accessibility, scroll down to hearing and select live captions to turn it on. There are a number of apps like Otter.ai or Innocaption that will do live captions.

Don’t forget to download Sched to utilize the online schedule for details on all the session and events happening.

Most of all, remember to have fun. How often do we get to be in a room filled with people who know exactly what we’re talking about? Don’t be afraid to introduce yourself to someone new.

See you soon!
